Folkestone rises from the sea to the downs in about three miles, and every part of that climb behaves differently for a removals crew. Here is how we think about it and which places have a page of their own.
CT20
The Old High Street and Creative Quarter, the harbour and its newer apartments, The Leas and the seafront conversions, and the streets on the slope behind. The steepest and most constrained work we do, and the part that most rewards a survey.
CT20 · CT21
Sandgate along the shingle and Hythe beyond it. A narrow ribbon of a High Street at Sandgate, then flat canal streets and a bungalow seafront at Hythe. Wind is a genuine variable on both fronts.
CT19
Cheriton, Morehall and Shorncliffe. The easiest loading in the area, and the part of town with the Channel Tunnel terminal on its edge — which is why cross-channel moves from here skip a whole leg.
CT18 · CT4
Hawkinge and the villages behind it. Modern estates with driveways alongside older cottages and properties down single-track lanes. Higher, more exposed, and with a winter that arrives before the seafront's does.
Area pages
These are the places where the local detail genuinely changes the job — a gradient, a single-file street, a terminal on the doorstep, a hill with its own weather. Each has a page rather than a name swapped into a template.
Our ground is Folkestone and the CT19/CT20 core, out to Hythe, Sandgate, Cheriton and Hawkinge. We will quote across the boundary happily — Ashford, Canterbury, Dover and the Marsh all come up — but we would rather be plain that our street-level knowledge runs out somewhere, because that knowledge is most of what you are paying for.
Dover in particular is its own town with its own movers and its own ferry-port character. We are the Channel Tunnel side of this coast; that is a real difference rather than a marketing one.
The M20 starts at Cheriton, so a long move out of Folkestone begins on a motorway rather than a coast road — unusually convenient by Kent standards. Those are planned as full household moves with a realistic first leg.
