The gradient
This is the thing about moving in Folkestone that nobody mentions until it matters. The town runs downhill from the downs to the harbour and a good share of the housing sits on a slope steep enough to change how a crew works.
Practically: the vehicle gets parked facing the sensible direction, the tail lift needs the flattest available ground, anything on castors gets strapped rather than trusted, and heavy items go first while everybody is fresh. In frost we move the start time. None of that is dramatic — it is just the difference between a planned day and an improvised one.
Parking and access
The hillside terraces and the streets around the old town have no driveways and fill up early. We start early and keep the vehicle moving. Where a bay genuinely needs suspending, the council usually wants the application from the occupier and we will tell you if yours is one of those.
Out at Cheriton, Morehall and Hawkinge the parking is easy and the carry from the road can be the longer part. On the downs, the lane sometimes decides the vehicle, and we look before allocating one.
Leaving Folkestone
The M20 starts here, which makes leaving unusually easy by Kent standards — London, the M25 and the rest of the country are a clear run. And the tunnel terminal at Cheriton means a move continuing into Europe skips the leg every other firm has to build in.

What does a house removal include?
Vehicle and crew, blankets and covers, floor and door-frame protection, and dismantling and rebuilding the furniture that will not pass a door in one piece. Packing is priced separately because households want very different amounts of it.
Do I need a survey?
On anything above a one-bed it is worth twenty minutes. It is free, it fixes the volume, and in this town it settles the access question — which matters more here than in most places because of the gradient.
Will one van do it?
A three-bed at Cheriton with a driveway, usually yes. The same contents out of a hillside terrace with no parking may not. The survey answers it rather than the afternoon answering it for us.
Is the hill really a factor?
Yes. Loaded trolleys want to keep going downhill and tail lifts want level ground. We park facing the sensible way, strap anything on castors, and in frost we will move the start time rather than risk it.
Can the move continue into Europe?
